Synology DiskStation DS925+

A four-bay desktop NAS for shared files and backup — the size most offices actually need, rather than a rack they never fill.

Synology DiskStation DS925+

The DS925+ is the NAS we deploy most often, because it is sized for an office rather than a data centre. Four bays let you run RAID 5 with a spare disk in reserve, so a failed drive means swapping one disk rather than losing a working day — and it sits on a shelf or in a small cabinet instead of taking up a rack.

Two things matter more than the bay count. The first is the backup target: a NAS is not a backup on its own, and we will not deploy one without a second copy somewhere else, whether that is another unit at a different site or an encrypted cloud target. The second is the drives themselves, which we supply and test before handover rather than leaving you to buy them separately and hope they are on the compatibility list.

If your data or your team outgrows four bays, the same unit takes an expansion chassis, so the upgrade is a disk shelf rather than a whole new NAS.
